Dr. Daksha Bhatt is a recipient of Gold Medal for securing first class first with distinction in Botany for her B.Sc. and M. Sc. degree from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India. After receiving her Ph.D. in 1977 in Plant Physiology she carried out her post doctoral research at the USDA Vegetable Breeding Laboratory, Charleston, SC,  USA. She also worked as visiting scientist at the Agronomy Department of University of Kentucky on transformation of soybean. With her husband, she was instrumental in setting and running the first indigenously built micropropagation laboratory , Unicorn Biotek at Hyderabad. She is promoter of Sun Agrigenetics and is working as technical director of the company.
